The city of České Budějovice is a capital of the South Bohemian Region. Almost 95,000 inhabitants live there. The city was founded by the Czech king Přemysl Otakar II. in 1265. It is an important economic, administrative and cultural centre of the region. The historical town hall building is located on the Přemysl Otakar II. square. The city is famous for its world-known companies such as the brewery Budweiser Budvar, N.C. and the manufacturer of writing and art supplies Koh-i-noor Hardtmuth, a.s. České Budějovice is a university town with about 9,000 students.
